Myron Hollatz Calling

Professional Caller

Over 35 years of experience

Myron has been a caller for over 35 years. Myron was born and raised in Minnesota. He grew up in Alexandria with his brother, sister and parents. He took square dance lessons with his mother when he was in 8th grade. He danced for several years before taking up calling. In 1986, at age 21, a caller put the wrong side of a record on by accident at a dance. The caller ended up doing a lip sync to the record, and Myron decided to follow suit. The caller then offered Myron a few of his records; and, two weeks later, Myron was calling. Fast forward 37 years, and Myron is calling around Minnesota and Wisconsin and traveling to square dance conventions. He has called in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. He has made guest appearances in 20 states throughout the USA.

In October of 2023, Myron and his wife, Tracy, were married. Myron and Tracy currently live in Merrill, WI. Both are active in the square dance community, sitting on various boards and maintaining square dance club and association websites.

Myron is a computer programmer by trade. Computers have always come easy to him - he has been programming since the 8th grade. He earned a diploma in computer programming in 1985. He has even built his own MP3 player that he uses for calling.

Line dancing and Contra are other forms of dance that he does. He calls SSD, mainstream, PLUS and is starting to call Advanced. In 2024, he started to teach Round Dance lessons. He teaches line dances at one-night stands/barn dances. He taught lessons for a club in Willmar, MN for several years and after moving to WI has stepped into a club caller role for a PLUS club.
